Saratoga County kept growing. Downtown stock and newer streets sit on the same map. Some houses still have 100-amp overhead. Some already have 200-amp and just need a safer panel.
We pull the permit. We handle the inspection. We file with National Grid when the service changes. You do not have to guess which office to call.

Growth county, mixed housing, mixed panels
Saratoga Springs is not one housing type. Older downtown and East Side houses can still open a fuse box. Later subdivisions may already be on 150 or 200 amps. The next circuit is the problem, not the service size.
Federal Pacific and Stab-Lok still turn up. Those get replaced. We do not add a subpanel under a bad main and call it done.
We pull the permit and handle inspection
You should not have to figure out the inspection path. We pull the permit for the job. We schedule inspection. National Grid needs that approval before they energize a new or upgraded service.
A Saratoga Springs permit dated December 31, 2025 or later is on the 2023 NEC. New York adopted that book through the 2025 Uniform Code, outside New York City. New services need outdoor emergency disconnects. More GFCI protection too.
100 vs 200 amp when you add load
Track season and year-round living are not the same load. A small gas-heat house with no charger can stay on 100 amps. Add a heat pump and a Level 2 charger, and most will not.
We run a load calculation. Charger details are on EV charger installation.
- 100-amp to 200-amp service when the calc says so
- Same-amp panel replacement when the box is the hazard
- Fuse box conversion
- Mast, weatherhead, and storm damage repairs
National Grid on upgrade day
Raising amperage puts National Grid on the schedule. They disconnect so we work dead. After inspection they restore power and set or reseal the meter.
Same amperage, meter and mast stay put: maybe not a full upgrade application. The meter still has to come out. Recent code changes make a panel swap a bigger inspection than it used to be.
No canned price until we see the service
Saratoga lots vary. Overhead versus underground. Mast versus pipe riser. Trees along the drop. Workspace in a garage versus a packed basement. We quote after we see those things.
How we approach the trade is on our electric panels page.
Heat pump money is not panel money
NY Clean Heat is for the HVAC contractor on a heat pump. It does not pay us for a standalone panel upgrade.
If you own a one-family home and may qualify on income, look at EmPower+ Sustainable Futures. NYSERDA lists up to $5,000 for a panel and $2,500 for wiring, on top of core caps. Confirm at nyserda.ny.gov/empower. Do not assume programs stack.
