When you need a Generac
A standby Generac sits outside the house and starts when utility power drops. It keeps lights, heat, fridge, sump, and the other circuits you choose running through an outage. That matters in Capital Region winters and after storms.

A typical install includes:

- sizing the Generac to your home and the circuits you want backed up

- permit and inspection where your town requires them
- panel or service work only when the generator path needs it
Sizing vs a panel upgrade
We size the Generac to your house — what must stay on in an outage (heat, well, sump, fridge, medical equipment, home office) and how the home uses power today. That sizing is part of the Generac job.
Panel work is separate. Sometimes the panel or service has to change first. We look at your panel and what you are adding, then tell you. When an upgrade is needed, that runs through our electrical panel upgrades page.
