Clifton Park keeps building. A lot of those houses still opened with 100-amp or 150-amp service. Fine for the original range and dryer. Tight once you add a heat pump or a charger.
We also serve Halfmoon from this same crew. Same shop. Same National Grid process. If you are in Halfmoon, this is your page.

Growth town, still a lot of 100 and 150 amp
Newer siding does not mean a 200-amp panel. We open 1990s and 2000s houses that never left 100 or 150 amps. The main is full. The next circuit has nowhere to land.
Older pockets of town still have fuse boxes and problem brands. Federal Pacific and Stab-Lok get replaced. We do not leave them in place and add a subpanel.
Halfmoon is on this route
Halfmoon jobs run with the Clifton Park crew. Third-party inspection. National Grid disconnect and reconnect. If your charger or heat pump is in Halfmoon, start here.
Third-party inspection and the 2023 NEC
Clifton Park uses a third-party electrical inspector. We pull the permit. We handle the inspector. You do not need to pick a name off a list.
Clifton Park permits dated December 31, 2025 or later follow the 2023 NEC. New York adopted that code through the 2025 Uniform Code, outside New York City. New services get outdoor emergency disconnects. More GFCI as well.
National Grid will not restore power on an upgraded service until that inspection passes.
Heat pump and charger load calcs
A Clifton Park or Halfmoon house adding a 48-amp charger usually cannot stay on 100 amps. Same if you add a whole-home heat pump. We still run the numbers. A small house with gas heat and no charger might.
Charger details live on EV charger installation. The panel has to be ready first.
- 100-amp or 150-amp to 200-amp service
- Same-amperage panel swap when the box is full or failing
- New circuits landed in a larger 200-amp main, not a leftover FPE
- Outdoor emergency disconnects on new services
What National Grid does on upgrade day
Capacity upgrades need the utility. National Grid disconnects. We pull the old gear, land the new socket and panel, and call inspection. After a pass, they restore power.
A garage 100-to-200 with working clearance can be a one-day outage. Underground services take longer. So do trees in the drop path.
We quote after we see the service
Cost is not one number for the whole town. Overhead versus underground. Mast versus pipe riser. Workspace. Landscaping. We price it after we see those things.
Overview of the trade is on our electric panels hub.
Programs: HVAC rebate is not our invoice
NY Clean Heat can help with a heat pump. That money goes to the HVAC contractor. It is not a panel rebate for the electrician.
Income-eligible one-family households can check EmPower+ Sustainable Futures. NYSERDA lists up to $5,000 for a panel box and $2,500 for wiring on top of core caps. Confirm at nyserda.ny.gov/empower. Do not assume programs stack.
